The excellent qualities of ductile iron are the result of its manufacturing process and the modern interior and exterior coatings that are incorporated.
Magnesium is added to the iron, carbon, and silicon alloy, which is the element that causes the graphite to form spheres rather than flakes. This makes it possible to create a highly resistant and malleable material, thus eliminating potential fragility.
The result is a very strong alloy capable of withstanding very high internal pressures and external loads. Its characteristics allow, for example, the installation of pipes in poorly backfilled trenches or unstable soil.
But its properties don’t stop there. It also has high resistance to extreme temperature changes, such as freezing and thawing, as well as exceptional mechanical performance that allows for installation at high or minimal cover heights, ensuring long-term reliability.
Considering the variations that projects may undergo, based on different specifications or unstable soil, our ductile iron solutions allow flexible joints with a high angular deviation and axial play, capable of handling different ground settlements and enabling the creation of large-radius bends without the need for additional fittings.
At Saint-Gobain PAM, we have over 150 years of experience in manufacturing ductile iron pipes. Throughout this time, we’ve strengthened our position in pipeline development, focusing on reliable, customer-oriented service, including pre- and post-sales support. Nodular Graphite in Ductile Iron
Cast Iron Pipes and Technical Solutions for All Needs
At Saint-Gobain PAM, we know that innovation drives strength. Since 1665, our company has been recognized for its ability to develop products designed to improve our daily quality of life.
For this reason, our extensive PAM range has evolved from a simple product catalog into a complete ductile iron pipeline system for potable water supply. Among other advantages, the use of our cast iron pipes significantly increases the resistance of the pipelines, thanks to their Biozinalium coating, which can extend the life of the coating 3 to 4 times.
Centuries of experience, certified quality, and excellent customer service are just a few of the reasons to invest in our pipeline systems.
